Schedule overview

How the Week-on, week-off schedule works

Rotation

The children spend seven consecutive nights with one parent and then seven with the other, usually exchanging on the same weekday each week.

Parenting-time split

Approximately 50/50 over a complete two-week rotation.

Often works best for

Older children, stable school routines, and families that want fewer exchanges.

Handoffs and tradeoffs

Usually one exchange per week. A full week away from either parent can be too long for some younger children.
