Parenting Time Overnight and Percentage Calculator

Choose a repeating schedule, calculate a full year or custom date range, add holiday overrides, and download the monthly results.

Reviewed August 12, 2026

This calculator counts assigned overnights or known totals. It does not apply a jurisdiction's legal definition, determine child support, or verify that every schedule exception has been entered.

The percentage stays the same. The report also shows total child-nights.

Weekday presets use the Monday of this week as their anchor.

Assign a specific overnight differently from the repeating schedule.

Updated estimate: Parent A 49.9 percent, Parent B 50.1 percent, with 156 handoffs.

How it works

From a schedule or overnight total to a percentage

Use the schedule method to apply a rotation to every night in a calendar year or custom date range. Dated overrides replace the repeating assignment for holidays, vacations, or one-off changes. If the final overnight totals are already known, manual mode calculates the percentage directly.

The monthly table, handoff count, and longest blocks are available when dates are generated from a schedule. The downloadable report records the selected period, method, totals, percentages, and monthly figures where available.

A court order or child-support worksheet may count time differently. Review the applicable rule before using the result for a legal or financial purpose.

Need to see the dates themselves? Build the same rotation in the custody schedule generator. For common patterns, see how to choose a custody schedule.
