How the Every-other-weekend schedule works

Rotation

One parent has the school week while the other receives alternating Friday-to-Sunday weekends. Additional midweek or holiday time can be added separately.

Parenting-time split

The exact percentage depends on holiday, summer, and midweek provisions.

Often works best for

Families where equal time is not practical because of distance, work, school, or an existing order.

Handoffs and tradeoffs

Usually two exchanges every other week. Without added time, the weekend parent has substantially fewer overnights and may go long periods between visits.
