Schedule overview

How the 2-2-3 schedule works

Rotation

Each parent has two fixed weekdays and the three-day weekend alternates. The pattern flips the following week, producing equal parenting time over a two-week cycle.

Parenting-time split

Approximately 50/50 over a complete two-week rotation.

Often works best for

Families seeking equal time with frequent contact and who live close enough for several weekly exchanges.

Handoffs and tradeoffs

Usually three exchanges per week, depending on exchange timing. The schedule creates more handoffs than week-on, week-off and requires coordination around school and activities.
